How To Determine Correct Bunk Boards and Mounting Hardware For 17' V Bottom Boat
Question:
Hi, I would like to switch my boat trailer from rollers to a bunk system. The boat is a 17ft center console with an average V hull. Hull weight 1000lbs, motor 250lbs, 29 gallon gas tank capacity. Current setup has 2 pair of rollers on 32inch 2x2 steel tube which is u bolted to frame - 4 rollers total on each 32inch tube, 2 setups on either side of hull for a total of 16 individual rollers in contact with the hull. The span between the first roller closest to bow and the last roller at the stern is 100inch 84. What parts do I need to convert to a bunk system and what is the recommended length for the bunk boards? Any other suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated. Hope this makes sense - thank you for your help.

We have exactly what you are looking for.
It is recommended to have bunk boards at least 50% of the length of your boat, so since your boat measures 17' long you would want to go with bunk boards that are at least 8-1/2' long. This is the minimum recommendation so you can absolutely use longer bunk boars if desired, you just want them to run from the stern as far forward as you desire.
Based on how the crossmembers are on your trailer I would pickup some 10' long 2" x 4" boards and wrap them in marine grade carpet # CE11330.
Since standard bunk boards will be somewhat of a down grade from your current wobble roller setup in the sense of ease of loading the boat, I recommend bolting roller bunks # CE27710 to the 10' boards to make loading your boat much easier.
In regards to how to mount the bunk boards you will need CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies # CE10000G-4 and U-bolts. The correct U-bolts will be dependent on the size of your crossmembers so you will want to measure them then look through the included link of our available U-bolts.
I included a few videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
