Will Swagman XC-2 and XTC-2 Hitch-Mount Platform Bike Carriers fit a 2014 Subaru Forester

Question:

Im trying to figure out whether to order this rack, or the Swagman XTC-2 rack for my 2014 Subaru Forester with a 1 1/4inch hitch opening. Do either of them fit the 2014 Subaru Forester? The hitch is a factory-installed hitch. How could I determine if either will fit the 2014 Forester if no one there knows off-hand? Thanks for your help.

Both the Swagman XC-2 and XTC-2 hitch-mount platform-style 2-bike carriers, parts # S64650 and # S64670, will fit either 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitch receivers. Either one will work on your 2014 Subaru Forester.

The main differences between the two carriers are the amount of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the nearest wheel hoop, and the size of the bike wheelbase they can carry. The specific type of bikes you have and their dimensions may help determine which one is a better choice.

The XC-2 offers 10-1/2 inches clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch receiver to the near edge of the closest wheel hoop, and a 51-1/2-inch wheelbase (measured from the center of one wheel hoop to the center of the other). The XC-2 can handle wheels as wide as 3-1/2 inches.

The XTC-2 offers 8 inches clearance between the hitch pin hole and the nearest wheel hoop but can handle bikes with a wheelbase as long as 66 inches. The XTC-2 can fit bike wheels as wide as 2-1/2 inches.

Both Swagman carriers offer the same 70-lb weight capacity, include a threaded anti-rattle pin and clip (and can be locked with Swagman anti-rattle lock, part # S64029), and both use an angled shank that provides extra ground clearance. I have linked product videos and installation instructions for each.

I have also provided two articles concerning hitch-mount bike carriers that might help you evaluate your options, and also a link to all of our 2-bike platform-style carriers where you can choose the type that you prefer, either fixed, folding or tilting.
