Prodigy RF Electronic Hand-Held Controller Unit Is Blowing Fuses

Question:

What size fuse should I use in the controller into the vehicle cigarette lighter? I have tried several fuzes but too high amp blowes the 20 amp vehicle fuse.

It is odd that the hand held controller in the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # TK94FR is blowing fuses. Typically this will just plug in and you are good to go. If this is happening consistently, however, I may have a different solution for you as I do not recommend changing the vehicle fuses.

The 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps # RM-9332 will bypass the vehicle's systems and will get the needed power to the controller. This also includes a 20 amp fuse, but this can be replaced with something higher if needed.

If this doesn't get your controller running, let me know and we can try something else.
