Curt 2 Bike Rack Ok To Use With A Class I Hitch On A 2021 Kia Soul

Question:

I have a 2021 Kia Soul. The hitch fit guide shows a Class 1 for this vehicle but some of the hitch mounted bike racks Im considering that are compatible with a 1 1/4inch receiver call for a Class 2 hitch even though the combined weight of the bike rack and bikes would be less than the 200lb. capacity for a Class 1. Would I be ok buying a rack that calls for a Class 2 even though Ill have a Class 1 hitch or will a Class 2 hitch fit on the Kia Soul? Thank you.

When a manufacturer states that their bike rack must be used with a class II hitch, then you will need to use a class II hitch. However, the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # C18085 will work for you and includes a hitch adapter sleeve that will allow you to use this bike rack with a 1 1/4" hitch like # C67FR.
