Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Toyota Prius V

Question:

Hi, I am seeing very conflicting answers about trunk and hitch bike racks for a Prius V wagon with a spoiler. Some expert answers are saying that trunk bike racks are fine with the spoiler, and other expert answers say the only option would be a hitch rack which is not recommended or a roof rack. We find this disconcerting when trying to determine the best option for us we have 2 bikes, as we obviously dont want to damage our car. Could you please address these discrepancies and provide viable options for 2 bikes to be carried by the 2012 Toyota Prius V which does have a spoiler and is completely different body style than a normal Prius hybrid. We appreciate the advice.

I was able to find trunk mounted bike racks that are confirmed to fit your 2012 Toyota Prius V with a spoiler. Thule does not recommend any of their trunk mounted bike racks for your vehicle, but Hollywood Racks has one that will fit.

The 3 bike rack that I would recommend you get is the Hollywood Racks Over the Top part # HRF2-3.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Yakima Tube Top Adapter Bar # Y02531 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
