Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring to Add a 7-Way to 2021 Chevrolet Express Van
Question:
I am looking to install a 7-way connection on a 2021 Chevrolet Express Van. What do I need to make this happen? It does not have a factory tow package. I also need a brake controller. I was looking at the Curt Echo so I could use it on my personal vehicle in addition to the van. Thanks for the help.

In order to add a 7-way connection to your 2021 Chevrolet Express Van you will need to start by adding a 4-way. For the 4-way wiring harness I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118392. This custom wiring harness plugs into connection points in the rear cargo area.
Once you have your 4-way installed, you will be able to install the 7-way. I recommend the # ETBC7 universal installation kit. This kit has a 7-way adapter and everything else you will need to get your 7-way up and running on your van. I have attached an installation video of the 4-way and 7-way wiring on a 2019 Chevrolet Express Van to help you see what the installation process is like.
For a brake controller, the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is the perfect choice. Since this plugs in line with your existing 7-way connection it can be used on any vehicle and easily transferred over. It is also controlled via the Bluetooth through the Echo Smart Control App. This app will allow you to store different profiles so you can save your settings between the different vehicles to make it easy.
In addition to the previously mentioned installation videos I also attached a review of the Curt Echo for your reference.
