Troubleshooting Curt Echo Wireless C51180 Having Too Strong Of Brake Output At Low Speeds

Question:

on the blue tooth controller i turn the output level down but it still sends the blue ring on my phone all the way around and applies way to much brakes. i notice this at slow speed the most. i watched a few videos and when the output level is lower the blue light only travels around the orange circle as much as you set the level strength. mine gos all the way around no mater what output level i set it to and the trailer brakes stop my truck to fast and hard even on the lowest setting. need help

Sorry to hear about the issue you are having with your Curt Echo # C51180.

I reached out to my contact at Curt and he had a few things to check, but mentioned the blue ring will always go all of the way around when the output setting you chose has been reached. The lower the setting the more likely the blue circle is to go all the way around the orange button on your phone as it has less output needed to get to the max.

Now in regards to the braking being too strong at low speeds they have found that this is typically due to incorrect pairing. Plug the Curt Echo into the 7-way connector on your truck without plugging in the trailer and you should get a flashing blue light. Once you see that light then you can pair the Echo to your phone via the app and will get a solid blue light. After pairing you can now hook up the trailer connector and you should now have a solid green light.

If you did not follow these pairing instructions exactly then the app was configured wrong and is causing your issue. To fix it you will need to uninstall the app and pair the device again following the above steps.

I included a video of the # C51180 for you to take a look at.
