Expert Reply:
Safety chain loops are normally located to the left and right of the gooseneck ball. The X-shaped part in the center of the Curt X5 adapter, # 16310, is raised above the truck bed by almost 1-1/2 inches, more at the center where the adapter fits into the ball cavity. It should not interfere with the safety chain loops, especially if they are the type that are on springs and other wise sit fairly low to the bed when not in use.
