Can Trailair Rota-Flex Pin Box be Used With Andersen Ultimate on 2021 Ram 3500

Question:

I’ve been reading on your website that several Lippert King Pin hitches are not compatible with “ gooseneck” adapter. Is the Andersen Ultimate considered as a gooseneck adapter? We have ordered a Grand Design Momentum 351M and it comes with a MORryde rubber pin box standard. I Want to use the Andersen hitch but I am not clear if they are compatible. Additionally, I have used the TrailAir on a previous trailer and loved it. From what I read I am not sure if they would work with Andersen hitch either. Can you clear this up for me? I would like to upgrade from the MORryde rubber pin box to a TrailAir pin box but need to know what is applicable. Maybe I need to steer away from the Andersen???? Thanks

You can use an Air Ride like # LC158778 with the with the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System with Adapter # AM3200, or for a Trailair Rota-Flex pin box like # LC328330 it would need a lockout kit from Andersen in order for it to be compatible as this prevents rotation that would cause damage. I have added a link below to our selection of Trailair pin boxes for you in order to find the correct replacement.

Having said that, while the Andersen can be used, it is still technically an adapter, and I personally prefer the stability and strength of a good old 5th wheel hitch that doesn't require any type of special lockout device, a hitch like the Reese M5 # RP30928 or Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16140.

No matter which option you choose, your 2021 Ram 3500 will also need base rails, the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50085-58.

And if your '21 Ram 3500 also needs a 5th wheel wiring harness the correct fit is the Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # 50-97-410.
