Adapter to use a Blue Ox Aladdin Tow Bar with Roadmaster Base Plates on a 2000 Mazda Miata

Question:

My dad has a Blue Ox Aladdin tow bar and would like to use it with his 2000 Mazda Miata, but would like a hidden type baseplate with removable mounts like the roadmaster baseplate #711-4 instead of a fixed mount style. Do you have adapter brackets for the Aladdin tow bar so it can be mounted to the roadmaster baseplate? All he has is the tow bar itself. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

We do have the adapter needed to use the Roadmaster base plates # 711-4 with the Blue Ox Aladdin tow bar. You will need adapter # BX88178.

In addition to the base plates and tow bar, you will also need safety cables unless you still have the ones that originally came with the tow bar. If you do need some you can use # RM-643.

The Miata will also need a lighting solution. I recommend going with a simple magnetic kit like # RM-2120. This will bypass the vehicle wiring so you will not have to splice into the Miata's wiring.

Most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot proportional system # BLU37TR. This system will apply the Miata brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

I have included some helpful links on flat towing for you as well.
