The least expensive bike rack that would fit your 2005 Mini Cooper and that I would recommend would be the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT. This is a trunk mounted bike rack that would not interfere your sun roof.

The Thule Passage Bike Rack comes in a 2 bike carrier # TH910XT and 3 bike carrier style # TH911XT. Both styles offer a couple of features that I would recommend over some of the other manufacturer bike rack systems. The attachment straps and anti-sway cradles that Thule uses are very durable and strong, and are intended to prevent bike movement on the rack. Therefore avoiding damage to the bike(s) being carried, or the vehicle.

If you are carrying a step-through style of bike or childs bike it is recommended that an adapter bar be used such as # TH982XT.
