Recommended Bike Rack for a Ford Transit T250

Question:

I noticed that you do not have videos of full size vans, i.e., Ford Transit or Sprinter vans where the doors open to the sides of the vans. I have a Ford Transit T250. i am looking for an inexpensive platform bike rack that swings away so I can open my van doors. My bike do not exceed 70 lbs. One is a womens step through bike with traditional fenders One is a regular mans chainless bike with a slant cross bar between the seat and handle bars.

I do have an option for your Ford Transit T250, but we have not had the chance to install any of these on a full size van as of yet. However, this does not mean they will not work for you.

With that being said, I suggest going with the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B. This will have no issues holding the regular men's style bike or the step through style bike. I recommend going with a frame mount as the fenders on the step through will be in the same place the connection on a wheel mount will sit. This technically will not clear the rear doors, but we do have an add on that may suite your needs.

The Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks # SAR36VR will swing the rack away from the receiver and should get you the clearance needed to get the door either opened all the way, or just about all the way.
