Flat Towing A Jeep Wrangler Behind A Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

I was curious about flat towing my 2001 jeep wrangler with a three inch lift and 37 inch tires behind a grand Cherokee. I know the equipment needed as many years ago I used to tow it behind an RV, and although the wrangler weight is well below the GC towing capacity, it’s just something I’ve never seen done, so wanted to make sure there wasn’t an issue I was missing with doing that.

As long as your vehicle's towing capacity is not exceeded by the toad vehicle you should be fine. I recommend using something like Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms - Car Mount # C19745, which is a coupler style tow bar that connects to a 2" hitch ball.

The arms on # C19745 are adjustable from 26" to 41", and has a capacity of 5,000 pounds.

Additionally, If you need the rest of the components for flat towing, they are a tow bar, base plate kit, safety cables, tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you don't have all these parts let me know and I'd be happy to point you in the right direction.
