How Does Progressive Dynamics Pure Sine Wave Inverter Handle 4,000 Watt Surge with 200 Amp Fuse

Question:

With the 1620 2000/4000 inverter, would you go with the recommended 200 amp fuse and 2/0 cable? If you max out the inverter at 2000 watts, you are pulling 2000 watts /12 volts = 166.6 DC amps per hour. It seems if you surge the line much above the 2000 watts, it could blow the T-fuse. From the manual for the PD16202kW 0-10 ft. #2/0 AWG Fuse: min. 200A for full load See NEC for safety codes

You might go with 00 AWG but it depends on the length you'd need. Basically if you'd be over the 10 feet with the # PD64FR. So the fuse recommended for this is 200 amp which yes this was designed to handle surges over that since it's rated for 4,000 watts surge but the fuse is not going to blow on that initial surge as you'd want to use a 200 amp slow blow fuse.
