How Tight Should Spindle Nut On Dexter 7000lb Axle Be?
Question:
What temp should 7k dexter axles run? Without any slack ,they were to hot to hold onto, backed off 2 king nut slots Carter key and they are just warm, problem is has I feel like to much slack in them now. Havent never run bearing that loose before.

When you say "Slack" what exactly do you mean? It is normal and required for the bearings to have some slack to allow the wheel to turn without too much friction, and you should be able to rock the hub back and forth and feel slight movement.
When installing the hub you should tighten the spindle nut all the way and then back it off one to two notches back. That sounds like how you have it so it should be about right. Just make sure you are not having an abnormal amount of hub movement.
I included a link to a helpful article that goes over the correct installation steps for you to take a look at.
