Helper Spring System for 30 Foot Toy Hauler Towed With 2018 GMC2500HD Diesel

Question:

Is it suggested to use the Timbren TGMRCK25D on a 2018 GMC2500HD Diesel with an Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control 16K ? I have only ever owned 5th wheel with AirBags. Moving to a Travel Trailer Toyhauler I immediately went to Airbags. BUT since the hitch is a weight distribution and sway control, my thought is that airbags will create issues with the hitch. Thinking that the Timbrens will be better. Looking for direction: Airbags or Timbren with this hitch - Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control

You can certainly use a bump stop type helper spring option like the # TGMRCK25D Timbren or an air helper spring system in conjunction with a weight distribution system such as the Equal-i-zer system, but you might not need it.

An air helper spring or the Timbren system is best suited to add support to handle cargo carried in the truck bed, while weight distribution is the most effective option for addressing rear suspension sag caused by a trailer's tongue weight.

If you frequently carry heavy loads in the bed of the truck, and those loads vary in weight by quite a bit, then an air helper spring system like the # AL57338 would be what I'd recommend because you can tailor the firmness of the suspension according to the load you're carrying. If you were to use the Equal-i-zer system with air helper springs AirLift recommends to inflate the springs to their 5 psi minimum, then set up the weight distribution system per the instructions then finish leveling with the air helper springs as needed.

If the weight of the cargo will be pretty consistent, a jounce spring replacement like the Timbren # TGMRCK25D would be an option, but I'd recommend the # SSR-203-47-2 instead. The Timbren system offers 8600 lbs of support which would be more than what you're needing and would give you a pretty stiff ride. The SumoSprings # SSR-203-47-2 are more pliable, and would offer you a more comfortable ride while still offering up to 5000 lbs of support.

I've linked to some installation videos for the products mentioned above that you might find helpful.
