Yes, the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR is the best choice for your 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that you will be using to tow a trailer off road.
This is due to its very easy to use and adjust User Control mode that allows you to adjust the braking force to the terrain you are in, and allows you to manually apply the trailer brakes as needed. This gives you the freedom to have the brakes work exactly when and how strongly you need them.
To get this controller installed in your Jeep you will need to have a a 7-way connector installed on your Jeep. If your Jeep has the factory 7-way connector you will need the wiring kit # 5506. The controller will get mounted in the location of your choosing by drilling a 25/64" hole for the knob to install into. You will need to make sure there is at least 1-3/4" depth behind the mounting location so you do not have any interference issues.
You will then making the following wiring connections:
Black wire of controller harness to black wire of # 5506 that gets run to positive terminal of vehicle battery with included 30 amp circuit breaker.
White wire of controller harness to ground
Blue wire of controller harness to factory blue trailer brake output wire located in passenger side of engine compartment near the battery.
Red wire of controller harness gets connected to the cold side wire of the stop light switch that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed. Using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 will aid you in finding the correct wire to make the connection to.
If your Jeep does not have a factory 7-way connector then you will need to add one starting with a 4-way connector # 118416 then converting it to a 7-way using the # ETBC7. This will plug into the newly installed 4-way and will require you to ground the white wire to the frame of your vehicle, extend the black wire to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40 amp circuit breaker and run the blue wire to the blue wire of the trailer brake controller harness. The controller harness will get wired up almost exactly the same with the only difference being the blue wire will get connected to the wire you ran, as there will not be a blue wire in your engine bay since you do not have the factory connector.
Once the install is complete you just need to plug in the 7-way connector from your 2022 Aliner and hit the road!
I included a few videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
