Diagnosing LINC 5-Function Receiver That Is Smoking And Won't Link To Remote
Question:
Number one: what is the momentary push button? Number two: I replaced the AAA batteries and now the unit is overheating and smoking? Any ideas?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The momentary push button is usually on the LINC receiver box. Press and hold this button then press the light button on your remote # LC292614 until you hear the receiver's relay click. Release the momentary button and your remote should be synced.
The unit smoking indicates a serious electrical issue that should not be ignored. Something could be shorted out or overpowered so you will want to check that. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2992 to verify if there is a wiring issue going to the receiver. If the wiring checks out good then you will want to replace the receiver.
