Can U-Bolts be Used to Mount Horizontal E-Track e62VR in Aluminum Trailer

Question:

I have an aluminum framed 101x14 trailer with a 5/4 pressure treated deck. I will be installing E-Tracks and wanted to know if I could use U-bolts where the E-Track crosses the frame in place of using backer plates? If so what type of metal U-bolts should I use?

Helpful Expert Reply:

You should use the backing plates instead of U-bolts in order to install the etrailer Horizontal E-Track - Galvanized Steel - 2,000 lbs - 94" Long # e62VR.

U-bolts won't allow for the most secure mounting of the E-track, so you really do want to support it with the etrailer E-Track Backing Plates with Hardware - Galvanized Steel - 6" Long x 6" Wide # e76YR.

The E-track and backing plates are galvanized steel so they can be used with aluminum, though it won't hurt to use aluminum spray paint or another coating before doing the installation.
