Which Front Mount Receiver Should I use on My 2009 Ford F-150 For The SnowBear Personal Snowplow?

Question:

Hello I see that both the curt and draw tite hitches will fit, but I have 2 concerns between the two. Draw tite 65061 Curt c31068 These are showcased in a video found in the draw tite hitch. They claim to have the same weight capability of 500 lbs, I am buying one to mount a snowbear plow which weighs under 300 pounds, and my concern is that the draw tite is a few inches longer. Will this add unneeded stress by having the plow farther out? Will the draw tite being longer cause me to scrape on things like driveways or hills due to the reduced front end clearance? How much longer exactly is the draw tite than the curt? Is it better to have the easier access of the draw tite or the recessed option of the curt for strength and protection?

Both the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31068 and Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver 65061 have been tested by each manufacturer for their respective weight ratings. I would not be concerned with the Draw-Tite having a longer receiver as a limiting factor.

The longer receiver tube will likely make it easier for you to install your SnowBear Personal Snowplow # SB324-140. The hitch shank on the SnowBear has multiple mounting points that will allow you to adjust the plow to multiple mounting positions on the front of your F-150. This will help to reduce the stress and scraping on driveways that you are concerned with.

At this time I do not have a Curt receiver in stock to be able to give you an exact measurement of the difference in overall length of the receiver tube.

For me I would choose the Draw-Tite 65061 for the more concealed finish as well as the longer receiver means that I do not have to worry about short hitches commonly found on bike racks and ball mounts requiring an extender just to work on the front of your F-150.
