If you have either a RBW Lil Rocker, or a Husky 5th wheel hitch a rail kit will be needed for installation.
If you have an RBW Lil Rocker 5th wheel hitch and are wanting to know which rail installation kit you would need, then the Reese Universal Installation Kit, # RP30035, would be compatible. This kit includes the rails, brackets, and hardware needed for bed installation of your Lil Rocker Hitch.
However if you have a Husky 5th wheel hitch that you would like to install, then the # RP30035 rail install kit will also fit a Husky Fifth Wheel Hitch.
Depending on the set up of your 2001 Dodge Dakota and the trailer that you are planning to tow, please consult your vehicle owners manual and specifications to ensure that your vehicle is capable of towing your trailer. This is called the Towing Capacity and can be calculated by subtracting the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), from the Gross Combined Vehicle Weight (GCVW).
GCVW - GVW = Towing Capacity
Some of this information may be obtained in your vehicle owners manual, or you may have to weight your vehicle and/or trailer to determine your towing capacity.
Ideally a 5th wheel hitch is recommend for use in a full size truck. However, depending on the specific setup of your 2001 Dodge Durango and trailer combination it is possible to use a 5th wheel hitch. Please be sure that the hitch and trailer that you choose, are compatible with the capabilities of your vehicle.
For # RP30035, the installation details specific to your vehicle are listed on page 17 of 20.
A slider style 5th wheel hitch would be recommended if the bed length is less than 8 feet in your 2001 Dodge Dakota.
I have included a helpful article, an illustration, installation details, and a video for you.
