Does Swagman Quad 4-Bike Rack Allow Tailgate of Toyota Tundra to Open
Question:
Since this rack does not fold down, when empty, will I be able to put the tailgate down the whole way? 2014 Toyota Tundra.

Since the Swagman Quad 2+2 Bike Rack # S64FR does not tilt down, and it has a rise in the shank, the tailgate on your Toyota Tundra likely won't be able to open all the way, even with the center masts folded down. While we haven't specifically tested it on a Tundra so I can't say with 100 percent certainty your tailgate won't be able to open all the way, it is unlikely. Thankfully though, there is a very similar option that I know for certain will allow your Tundra's tailgate to open, which is from Hollywood Racks:
- Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # HR1400Z
Like the Quad 2+2, the Sport Rider SE # HR1400Z is a 4-bike rack that can be converted into a 2-bike rack if needed, but unlike the Quad, the Sport Rider SE tilts down so you will be able to open your Tundra's tailgate. It also has a 50 lb per-bike capacity compared to the 45 lbs of the Quad, has locks for the rack and your bikes, and has a stop plate which aligns the holes in the shank and your hitch so it is simple to install.
Due to those things, and since the racks do have a similar price point, I recommend going with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # HR1400Z.
