Recommendation of Autoslide Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for 2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Question:
I have a 2011 Ford F350 Lariat with a 6 1/2 foot bed. We are looking to haul a 2021 durango 348bh which I think is 41 foot. The truck doesnt have oem 5th wheel mounts already in truck. I will not be using truck for anything other then the hitch so to be cost effective I could do above or below bed mounting system. I like the auto slide feature to make sure that I dont have camper make contact with back window. I am a first timer when it comes to 5th wheels, but have several years of hauling a travel trailer. Can you please include everything that will be needed for the installation. I really like the demco auto slider units. I think the weight of camper is figured out to be under 15k. Thanks for your help

I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550034 with the custom installation kit # DM8552000-71. This hitch will automatically slide to give you 14 inches more inches of clearance for turning. This automatic sliding feature eliminates the need to get out of your truck multiple times in order to make a turn. This Demco Hijacker is rated for a gross towing weight of 18,000 pounds and has a vertical load limit of 4,500 pounds. Above bed rails are used for this fifth wheel hitch.
I also recommend the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector, # C56070. Please review the attached product review and installation videos. You will want to mount this 7-way, RV-style connector in your truck bed for quick, simple hookup of your 5th-wheel. This is a custom harness that plugs in-line with your existing factory wiring at the bumper, so that you can retain use of your Ford's Super Duty factory 7-pole.
