Recommended Hand Crank Trailer Winch and Jack for 6K Boat

Question:

I have a 6000-pound boat, but the trailer does not have rollers. It has carpeted bunks. The boat is 25 feet in length and has twin small block Chevy engines. What winch would you recommend, and I would be more than happy to purchase one a little larger than I need, to be able to pull the boat up on the trailer. I will typically be putting the boat in and taking it out by myself, but I will be able to drive it up on the trailer about halfway. I'm also looking to replace the cheap jack for one with a wheel.

The general rule we use for selecting a boat trailer winch is 2:1 which means for a 6,000 lb boat we'd recommend a 3,000 lb winch. The Jif Marine 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # 315-W3200D is a great option for this rated at 3,200 lbs. It comes with a strap and clevis hook as well, pre-installed. It also has a two-speed operation, one for speed and one for power. You'd simply un-bolt the the old winch, drill a few holes for the new pattern, then bolt the new one in place.

In regard to a new jack, this only needs to be rated for tongue weight so something like the Dutton-Lainson Round Swivel Jack w/ 2" Wide Wheel - Sidewind - 12" Lift - 1,500 lbs # DL22210 which is bolt-on and has a 1,500 lb capacity would work just fine. It comes with a wheel as well for easy maneuvering.
