Can I Use Crossbars on My Thule TracRac SR Rails # TH24RV on My 2012 Ford F-250?

Question:

Hi - I have an F-250 8’ bed with TracRac SR rails. I also have some Thule car top crossbars both square and aero, and bike and ski racks for those. I would like to use the car crossbars with my pickup, so that the bike racks are only the height of the bed sides not 7’ overhead. Is there an adapter/fitting by Thule or anyone else that would enable me to do that? My question is more whether I can use a standard car roof rack just over the bed of the truck and less whether than I can use the specific bars I have (the ones I have may not be long enough; they are plastic-covered rectangular metal bars with ribs on the plastic, but not a channel per se). The bed of my truck is 63.5” wide (98” long).

I have a solution for you. I reached out to Thule, and they confirmed that they do not have a way to attach Thule aero crossbars and square crossbars to the TracRac SR Base Rails # TH24RV.

However, there is a solution that involves the Rhino-Rack RTC-Style Roof Rack Tracks - Channel Mount - 63" # RTC16. The 63" inch tracks will be able to bolt right onto your truck bed rails and can fit crossbars with the Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRRLT600. As far as the crossbars, since your bed is 63.5" wide, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - 65" # RRVA165S-2 (silver) or # RRVA165B-2 (black). With this system, you will have a low-profile crossbar system on the bed of your 2012 Ford F-250.

As far as your accessories, in order to know for sure if your bike and ski racks will fit, feel free to send me the model of accessories you have and I can confirm whether they will fit the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars.
