E-Bike Carrier For 2013 Itasca Navion iQ Motorhome And A Toyota 4Runner

Question:

Can the Door County model be used with a small motorhome as well as an SUV? I will be moving the carrier between two vehicles, a 4Runner and a 25.5’ Itasca Navion. I love that it is on wheels - how high must it be lifted to install on a different vehicle?

The Saris Door County Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - Electric Lift - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount, part # SAR42RR, is not approved for use on RV's, tow-behind RV's, or trailers. The height it would need to be lifted to fit in a hitch receiver will vary by vehicle, and the hitch receiver, but you can count on having to lift it at least a foot. That is a big deal since the rack is 63 lbs. The rack does fold and in addition to having wheels there are handles on the top of the rack that will help when you are attaching the rack to your vehicle. The Door Country comes with lights, you can hook it up to your 7-pin adapter. This bike rack is fender friendly, so you do not have to worry about your fenders getting in the way of your rack. The rack can be locked to your vehicle and your bikes can be locked to your rack. It can tilt, even when carrying bikes, so you can access to the rear of your vehicle.

You can also consider something like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE, part # HLY84FR. You can use it on motorhomes. It folds and tilts away. There are clamps that grab your bike frame. The rack can be locked to your vehicle and you can lock the clamps. This rack weighs 54 lbs.

I have included a product description and a video link below.
