Replacement Springs for Fulton Boat Trailer

Question:

I need to replace the four leaf springs on my Fulton boat trailer. I replaced the springs ten years ago but the salt environment here has taken its toll. The attached photo shows the worst of the four springs. It had five leafs, it’s 1 3/4 wide, 31 inches on dimension B, 4 “ on dimension E and 14” on Dimension A. The axles are in good shape and are oversized for the boat 2200 pounds. Would SP-040275 4 leaf be a satisfactory replacement for the 5 leaf springs currently on the trailer?

Expert Reply:

Your 32 inch springs were likely a little shorter than that originally and have flattened over time. It sounds like what you are looking at, the 4-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Flat End part # SP-040275, a 30" long x 1-3/4" wide will work. If you need it, there's a U-Bolt Kit # CE23103 and for suspension bolts, the Spring-Eye Bolt with Locknut for Slipper Springs, # 166079.
