2022 Subaru Outback Wagon Curt vs Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver

Question:

Hello, Can you tell me the difference between to Curt CU89FR and the Draw-Tite max frame DT73RR? This will be mounted on a 2022 Subaru Outback, Not Wilderness. Im looking for info reference ground clearance and is the frame mounted hitches better or strongerinch than the bumper mounter hitches. Thank you in advance,

The Curt Hitch Receiver you referenced is inactive and no longer available for purchase but when it was the main difference in the two hitch receivers is the concealment and ground clearance that the Curt Hitch item CU89FR has over the Draw-Tite Hitch item # DT73RR. The Curt receiver is tucked in nicely below the trim cover for the bumper bar. The Draw-Tite Reciever has a crossbar that extends below the fuel tank and sits a couple inches lower. I have attached a picture that shows a comparison of the two. The Curt receiver will be more difficult to install because you are required to remove the rear bumper cover. This allows the crossbar to be concealed whereas the Draw-Tite one is an easier install because the crossbar sits below the fuel tank. Both hitches are bolt-on so you will not be drilling or welding anything onto your frame.

Both hitch receivers are class III. The Curt hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 600 lbs. The Draw-Tite hitch item # DT73RR has a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,500 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 675 lbs.
