Replacing Atwood Landing Gear on 2006 Topaz Fifth Wheel

Question:

I own a 2006 Topaz 5th wheel with an Atwood landing gear set up. The unit is 15 years old and on our last trip out the drive pin of the lead leg to the trailing leg broke off loosing the power to the trailing leg. We got through our trip fine but I would like to rebuild the whole landing set up strictly based on age and mileage. I do not want to have to re weld new brackets for the legs in to the unit, I would like to use the existing brackets. Legs I check out measure close to 3inch square, the existing measure 2.5. Am I looking for something that does not exist? I will have to use the existing drive shaft between legs because anything new measures a max of 74inch and our jacks are close to 90inch apart. I am flexible to what I do but do not want to pull things apart until I have a plan.

Since the Atwood landing gear jacks are no longer made there won't be a way to rebuild what you have so your best option would be to replace the entire setup. The good news is that the Atwood landing gear jacks used the standard mounting bracket dimensions/setup so you can easily replace them with landing gear sets like the Reese part # RP500708 as well as LCI, Lippert, and Venture setups. Basically the only replacement set that would require moving the mounts would be if you went with an Ultra Fab setup.
