The Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC158777 is going to stick out a few inches more than you current 1716 pin box # LC1191201 but the center of the king pin to the bolt holes is the same for both at 20-3/8" so you won't be adding any length between the 5th wheel and the hitch. Typically when you're replacing a specific pin box like a 1716 with another 1716 there will be no differences in the measurements. That being said the # LC158777 is going to give you a much smoother ride. This air ride pin box replaces standard pin box on your 5th-wheel trailer to cushion your ride, improve handling, and limit strain on truck and trailer, minimizing chucking and eliminating bounce and jarring.

If you're trying to gain more turning clearance then I recommend switching to a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret # RP77FR. Rotating pin boxes push the pivot point of your trailer back 22" to allow for maximum turning clearance and prevent the nose of your 5th wheel from coming into contact with the cab of your truck. They do require specific wedge kits to lock the king pin in the hitch and prevent it from rotating so you'll need to ensure you use the correct wedge. If you need help finding the correct wedge for your 5th wheel hitch just reply back with the brand/model you have and I can find the wedge for you.
