If the error light is flashing on your Draw-Tite Activator Trailer Brake Controller # 5100, it will mean one of few different things.

First, to reset the controller, you will need to unplug it, wait 15 or 20 seconds, and reconnect it. If this does not get rid of the blinking, you will need to check a few things.

Using something like the Circuit Tester Kit # PTW2993, you will need to check the red brake switch wire when pressing the brake pedal. If you are getting power, you will need to move to the blue wire. Press the brake pedal again to make sure there is power when doing so. If these are good, you will need to check the 5 o'clock position on your 7-way. If you have power here, you will need to check your grounds. If you do not have power though, you have a short or break somewhere in you wire.

A faulty, damaged, or disconnected ground can cause this to happen. You will need to follow the White wire to verify where this occurred. This is also a good time to trace your blue wire. Two birds, one stone. I suggest double checking the grounds on the trailer as well just to be sure.

Finally, there could be a short or break in the wiring to the brakes on the trailer. You will need to test as close to the trailer plug as possible and then follow this wire to the brakes, again, this will be a good time to follow and test the trailer's grounds.

If all of these check out fine or do not get you back up and running, you may need to replace the controller. This will be due to something shorting out internally and, unfortunately, there will not be a way to repair this.

With that being said, the Draw-Tite Activator # 5100 does have a 3-year warranty, and this would be covered. If this was ordered from etrailer.com less than 3 years ago, you can contact our customer service at 1-800-289-1624 or cs@etralier.com to assist with warranty information. We would simply need the order information to get you all squared away. If it was not ordered through us, you could contact the business it was ordered through, and they should be able to cover the warranty as well.
