First I recommend checking the connector for the blue wire of the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter # C57187 to ensure that it is getting power when your 2004 Toyota Sienna is switched into reverse. The Test Light # PTW2993 can be used to confirm that you are getting power. If you do not have power you will want to check that the reverse lights are working and if not check the fuse located in your fuse box.

Once you have confirmed that you do have power at the connector on your Sienna you will want to confirm that the power is still present in the wiring of the trailer before the electric reverse lockout on your surge brake. If you do not have power going into the reverse lockout you will want to trace the wiring to the trailers 5-way connector to determine if you have a damaged wire or connector.

If you have power going into the reverse lockout you may need to replace lockout actuator. First you will want to confirm that it does have a good ground wire connection. The easiest way to test this is by running a jumper wire from the ground on the actuator to the vehicle ground connection. This will eliminate any bad wiring or if there is an issue with the connector.

With power going in and a confirmed good ground connection you know that the reverse lockout actuator is bad and needs replaced. If you let me know what brake actuator you have I can recommend a replacement reverse lockout for your trailer.
