Troubleshooting Tekonasha Prodigy RF TK94FR Not Sending Power On Battery Charge Line Circuit
Question:
We have the Tekonsha prodigy rf brake controller. Purchased in March of 2018. When I test pin 4 from the trailer I find power, When I test pin 4 going to the truck from the controller I find nothing. We do not seem to be charging the battery when on the road. Is there a disconnect or fuse I should check? I have had the truck output checked and am aware of the Fords necessary settings.

I reached out to my contact at Tekonsha and there is a few causes that could be causing your battery line to not work properly. The Tekonsha Prodigy RF # TK94FR you were looking at does send power from the 7-way connector on your F-150 to the battery in your trailer, but this circuit is limited to 20 amps which is the brakes and the battery draw.
If your battery is very low and drawing extra amps, the # TK94FR will shut off the battery charge line circuit to prevent the circuit from being overloaded. The controller does this so the brakes still work if there is an issue with your on-board battery.
I would check the charge on your on-board battery to see if it is dead and pulling too much current, and then use a standard battery charger to charge it up. The battery charge line on a 7-way connector does not give much power and is more of a maintenance charge.
I included a video of the # TK94FR for you to take a look at.
