Check Valve on MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator

Question:

I replaced a leaking Fairview GR-630B High Pressure 30# regulator with this Sturgis HP regulator. Install, hooked up to tank, turned both tanks, no leaks. Then I shut of main tank at 2 way regulator and ran stove top to make sure there was flow through regulator to stove All worked as expected. Then I shut off tank at the new Sturgis regulator now both tanks are off so I could fill the tank. When I disconnected tank at Sturgis regulator propane came out of line connected to new regulator until line was drained. Isnt there supposed to be a check valve in the regulator so I can remove tank without propane escaping? Never had that problem with Fairview regulator.

We do have the MB Sturgis Propane Hose, # 100473-30-MBS that has a check valve built in to it if this is a feature you want. But the MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator, # 108072, was not designed with a check valve built in to it.
