Can Spacers be Used with SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs on 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 LD
Question:
I have 2001 gmc sierra 1500 LD 2 wheel drive extended cab truck. My truck has a 3 inch lift on it. I have 7 and 1/4 inch space between axle and rail at rear of truck when my truck is unloaded. Do you have spacers to lessen the distance between bottom of sumo spring and axle for this application. I pull a tandem axle ski boat and dont like when i hook the boat up , it looks like it is squatting. boat total weight about 4200 pounds. Thank you Leland.

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS95MR will be a total of 6" in height once fully installed on your 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 if you use the 1/2" spacer that is included. With the 7-1/4" clearance you measured there will a 1-1/4" gap. Your vehicle would need to sag 1-1/4" before the SumoSprings would start to engage. According to SuperSprings, no additional spacers can be used with these SumoSprings.
Instead of the SumoSprings, I recommend the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS4611. This suspension enhancement kit will work well with your 3" lift and convert your GMC Sierra's leaf springs into a mechanically active suspension system. Since the unit secures under your leaf spring and around the factory U-bolts clearance is never an issue. The variable-rated coil tension springs automatically adjust to your vehicle's load allowing for improved ride quality with or without load.
I have attached a video review of the RAS kit for your reference.
