Proper Motorcycle Chocking A 10 Foot Aluma Flat Trailer

Question:

I have a 77X 10foot Aluma flat bed trailer. I have installed 3 strips of E-track down the center and on both sides. I have also installed two 30x 13inch tool boxes in the front of the trailer, I have two motorcycle wheel chocks to install but I cannot find what the install measurements should be from side by side, but most importantly, how close can I get to the tool boxes and be safe for most motorcycles? I greatly appreciate any advice you all can give me. Thanks, Will McGlothlin

You'll want have your load centered from side to side on the trailer, as well as front to back. Centering the motorcycles should alleviate the concern of your tool boxes as they are at the front.

Centering from front to back could also change the tongue weight and you are going to want the tongue weight to be 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. The etrailer Trailer Tongue Weight Scale # e99044 is perfect for getting that number exactly right. Having a balanced trailer helps reduce sway, track behind the vehicle better as well as not wear out components faster on one side than the other.

I have included a link on tongue weight and a video on the etrailerTrailer Tongue Weight Scale.
