Brake Controller Plug In Location for a 2013 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I cannot find the factory installed plug. I do have the towing package from the factory. I found two plugs under the dash but neither are the right one. Both the ones found have cap plugs on them and after removing are not the correct one. Do I have to remove the side plastic cover to find the plug?

It is possible that the brake controller plug on your 2013 Toyota Tacoma is located behind the driver side kick panel like you have indicated. You may be able to reach in and pull it up if you can reach just the wires from the connector. There is also the possibility that it is tucked up under the dash and you cannot see it easily. You would need to fish around under there with your hand and gently push, pull, or otherwise move aside other harnesses to locate it.
