Brake Assembly for 12 Inch Brake Drum With 4-Bolt Mounting Pattern
Question:
I have a 2002 ASM livestock trailer. It has Dexter 12x2 brakes on it that need to be replaced. Pictures included. The problem I am looking at is that the 12x2 brakes you have in stock have five bolts to attach to the axel. Mine has four bolts. I would like to replace the whole assembly but don’t know if the 12x2 drum will work with the new kits. Please advise.

Is there any tag or label on your axle that would help identify it? You could possibly have a AL-KO/Hayes axle that used a 4 bolt pattern that measured as follows:
• The top two holes are 3-1/8 inches apart
• The bottom two holes are 2-1/2 inches apart
• The top row of holes is 3-3/8 inches apart from the lower holes
I've provided a photo showing these dimensions. If the spacing matches up, and your existing brake drums are 2 inches deep, the # 23-105-106-09 brake assemblies would be the correct replacements.
If the brake drum is deeper, at 3-3/8 inches deep and the existing brake assembly has a 4-bolt pattern that is 3-7/16 inches across and 3-5/8 inches across vertically, again measured center to center, the # K23-532-533-00 would be the correct brake assemblies.
