Troubleshooting Red Dot Not Appearing on a Pilot # 80550 with Manual Override Slid
Question:
I installed the Pilot model 80550 controller. I used the plug under the dash and a connector cable to the brake controller. With no trailer connected, when I press the brake pedal on the tow vehicle the red dot shows in the controller. But, when I press the manual slide I get no red dot. I havent tried using the trailer brakes yet since I suspect that this means there is a problem with the controller. Any suggestions and is this a problem with the controller itself?

It sounds like the controller could be working correctly. I would recommend you connect to a trailer and try again to see if the problem persists. The manual override typically will need to see a load on the circuit before it will actually put any voltage on the output circuit.
So try connecting to a trailer and let me know what happens by emailing me back.
