Halogen bulbs come in 120 volts, 24 volts, and 12 volts so if you're placing it in a 12v light then you'll just want to make sure your 20 watt bulb is 12v. Higher voltage bulbs won't have enough power and will produce a dimmer light. There should be some indication on the packaging and/or bulb stating the voltage and wattage.
I've attached a link to our 12v bulb selection for your convenience.
