What Is the Torque Spec for the Castle Nut On a Dexter Axle
Question:
installed new brakes and reinstalling drum/bearings. Do you know the torque ft/lbs for tightening the castle nut?

Expert Reply:
There is no torque spec for the castle nut on most trailer axles. The nut will simply be snugged up until there is no side to side play in the hub and then backed off the next notch until the retainer or cotter pin lines up. We actually have a video that shows this process part-way through.
