Use of Curt Support Strap With Bike Rack
Question:
In the Installation instructions I saw Failure to use support straps on trailer hitches with 1 1/4inch receiver tubes voids the trailer hitch and bike rack warranties. I have not seen this warning anywhere else in your information. What does this mean to me with my rack installed on a 1 1/4inch receiver?

If you have a Curt Class I or Class II 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver, you should use the Curt trailer hitch support strap with a cam buckle, # 18050 for any non-trailer loads, like a bike rack or cargo carrier. While required by less manufacturers now than previously, a support strap is still recommended on some hitches and always a valuable added component for stability.
This strap will provide additional stability and support to a bike rack. It is recommended for use with bike racks and other hitch-mounted accessories to ensure hitch does not experience excessive torque.
