Can I Use the Saris Freedom on a Front Mounted Hitch

Question:

I want to mount one on the front of my pickup. Do they fold up when not in use and is ground clearance an issue? My option would be to use a saris freedom rack.

You could potentially mount the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # SA4414B on a front mounted hitch on a pick up truck, and the Freedom does fold up towards the vehicle for storage. With that said, I don't necessarily recommend leaving your bike rack mounted on the front of your vehicle at all times because it can tend to be a bit of an obstruction. The good news is that for a 4 bike rack, the Freedom is fairly lightweight at 56-lbs, so it will be fairly easy to remove and install as needed.

Either way, as long as you've got a 2" receiver mounted on the front of the truck, the Freedom will work well when you're headed out camping and is a nice way to keep your truck bed free of bikes and available for camping gear.
