Can the body of this valve simply be installed in my existing line without cutting and gluing the pipe ends?

Your valve is likely glued on with ABS cement already, which means you will need to go ahead and cut off your existing pipe line, and utilize ABS cement for a tight seal when installing the new waste valve you referred to:
