It sounds like you have the trailer connector on your 2005 Toyota Tundra or trailer wired incorrectly, or there is a short from the 12 volt accessory circuit to your brake output circuit and that is causing your trailer brakes to lock up.

The first thing I would do is check the back of the connectors on your vehicle and your trailer and see if there is any obvious things that could cause the short. Next, I would check that the 7-way on your trailer is wired correctly. Check out the picture I attached to see how a 7-way is typically wired. You could use a jumper wire from a vehicle battery to check the functions of the terminals of the 7-way and compare them to the picture of the 7-way to determine if everything is wired correctly. I suspect this is the problem.

I also attached an FAQ article on trailer wiring for you to check out also.

I am having the same issues. Just wondering if Hector figured it out. My OEM 7 pin bracket was rotted out when I bought my Sequoia 5 years ago and replaced it with one I ordered here. Now I need the brake controller for my new trailer and it does the same thing. All the lights work, but as soon at l go, my trailer brakes lock up? Same thing on my brother's camper.
