Is 600 lb Tongue Weight WD System Rated Too Low for Trailer with 650 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
Towing this trailer with older Reese equalizer hitch with 600lb bars and friction sway control which worked flawlessly on my duramax 2500. Getting a lot of extra movement between avalanche and trailer. Friction sway tightened as tight as possible, would going with a hitch with 800 or higher and built in sway control help any? Have approx .650 lbs of tongue weight. Thanks ,

Expert Reply:
You are exceeding the tongue weight rating of your current weight distribution system so yes it would help to go with a higher rated setup.
Since your tongue weight is right at 650 lbs the Fastway e2 part # FA92-00-0800 would work really well as it has a tongue weight range of 400-800 and does have friction sway control built into it.
