Setting Initial Power On Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller After Installing New Brake Assemblies
Question:
2005 Dodge Cummins 4x4 5.9 turbo. Ive installed a P3 90195. Ive replaced all 4 backing plates complete with new shoes and magnets. On initial brake set of the P3 it says to start at 6. Ive had to increase all the way to the max and cant get the wheels to lock up with the manual lever. I dont know what to do about this?

You will first need to adjust your new brakes first. I have linked a video and article below that will help you through this process. New brakes should always be adjusted manually when you install them on the trailer. Even self adjusting brakes will need set when first installed.
A Brake Adjustment Spoon # W80630 will make it much easier than using a screwdriver.
Once you have your brakes adjusted properly you can then begin setting your power on your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. You will want to make sure your controller is set to electric brakes and not hydraulic. You will see a E on the bottom left of the LCD screen. Starting at 6.0 on the power you will drive up to 25 MPH and apply the manual brake lever fully. You can the increase or decrease the braking force with the left arrows. Additional information can be found in the owners manual that I have linked below.
