Can Larger 12" Wheels Be Used To Upgrade 8" Wheels On CE Smith Multi Sport Trailer CE48810?
Question:
Hello, I purchased the ce smith multi sport trailer. My question is can I mount a larger wheel on? Maybe a 12 inch? Instead of the 4.80-8in. Any recommendations?

Since the CE Smith Multi Sport Boat and Kayak Trailer w/ Bunks - 8" Wheels - 12' Boat - 800 lbs # CE48810 you purchased has hubs with the common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, larger 12" wheels and tires like the Loadstar 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM30670 could be made to work.
These will physically bolt on but due to them being 4-1/2" taller overall you will likely run into clearance issues with your fenders.
I recommend raising the fenders as it will be the easiest option to get the clearance you need. To do this you will need to go to a local hardware store and get some flat metal and bend new mounting brackets to the same shape as your current brackets, but will need them to be 2-3" taller as you will need to raise the fender in total at least 2-1/4".
I included a video of the # AM30670 for you to take a look at.
