Weight Distribution Shank Recommendations to go from Porsche Cayenne to Ford Expedition
Question:
I used this part to attach my Reese weight distributing hitch to my 2004 Porsche Cayenne S for towing my Fun Finder travel trailer. This winter I traded in the Cayenne for a 2010 Ford Expedition Limited needed the 3rd row seating. To keep the travel trailer at the same height as I hauled it behind the Cayenne, can I use this same part, or do I need to order a different Reese part that will the ball to a lower height for hauling? Thanks for your help.

In order to determine how much drop you would need from your weight distribution shank you will need to check out the FAQ article I attached on picking out the correct ball mount. To get an idea what kind of drop difference you have between your vehicles you could measure from the ground to the hitch on both vehicles and see what the difference is. However much higher the 2010 Ford Expedition sits above your Cayenne should be about how much more drop you would need.
If you were at the bottom most drop setting of the Reese Shank # RP54970 that you referenced then you probably will need a shank with more drop. If you check out the link I attached you will see all of the Reese shanks we offer that have different rise/drops.
