Bike Rack Carrier For 2020 Ford Edge ST Towing A Tear Trailer With Class II Hitch Receiver

Question:

I see that this hitch adapter will reduce the tongue wait of my hitch by 50. I have a Ford Edge ST with the factory class 2 tow package hitch which just lists the limits as 350 lbs tongue weight and 3500 lbs towing. If I would like to have a tongue weight closer to 300 lbs not 175 lbs is there a hitch upgrade that you recommend? Could the factory hitch actually be rated for higher tongue weight but Ford just lists what the vehicles limit is? Are there any other adapter options that do not reduce the tongue wait and are suitable for towing?

With your 2020 Ford Edge ST having a Class II receiver I recommend using a bike rack that will mount on your teardrop trailer. I have 2 different types that will work with different trailer frames.

The Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk # CC-275 will mount to the front of an A-frame trailer. It fits A-frame widths of 12"-52" and provides you with a 2" receiver that you will be able to use trailer style bike rack with bikes up to 200lbs. The Swagman Traveler XC2 Bike Rack # S64663 is an example of a 2 bike carrier that will fit.

The Hitch-It 2 Bike Rack # LC731138 is designed for straight tongue trailers. This 2 bike rack is designed for 2"-4" square straight trailer tongues.

With your class II receiver we do not have a dual hitch adapter that will fit the 1-1/4" receiver.
